A big week at LMS. Pictures are from our Early Release Day Experience, September Student of the Month: Maddox Ewer, a leader in and out of the school.

Important Dates & Announcements

Student Summary Information

Our Safety Team met during the Early Release Day to review several important safety priorities for the school year. One of those priorities is ensuring we have accurate, up-to-date emergency contact information for every student.

When our district transitioned to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, we stopped sending home printed Student Summary Sheets for families to review. However, we have found that some important contact information has not been updated through the portal.

We are sending each family a printed Student Summary Sheet, along with directions for updating information online. Please complete one of the following:

Review the printed sheet, make any necessary corrections, and return it to school.

Update the information through the Parent Portal, sign the back of the printed sheet to confirm that the online information has been updated, and return the sheet to school.

Even if no changes are needed, please sign and return the sheet so we know that you have reviewed the information.

Having accurate phone numbers, addresses, emergency contacts, and other essential information is critical to our ability to reach families quickly. Please review and return the sheet as soon as possible.

A Successful Early Release Day September 22

Students and staff enjoyed a successful Early Release Experience this week. Students participated in their first GenUs lesson, working with classmates to explore the importance of healthy relationships. These conversations help students develop the skills they need to navigate friendships, relationships, and the increasingly complex situations they encounter as they grow older.

Students also rotated through 30-minute activity blocks that offered new experiences throughout the school. The activities were engaging, enjoyable, and gave students opportunities to learn and connect in different ways.

We were very pleased to have a 93% attendance rate. One of our goals in designing a different type of early release day was to create an experience students would value and want to attend, regardless of changes to the regular schedule.

We concluded the day with our first schoolwide assembly. During the assembly, we recognized our September Students of the Month and reviewed several important emergency drills that students and staff will practice throughout the school year.

Field Trip Readiness Rubric

Last school year, our teachers began developing a Field Trip Expectations Guide to help students prepare for learning experiences outside of school. All field trips remain accessible to all students. The purpose of this guide is to clearly communicate expectations, encourage student reflection, and help staff identify any supports students may need to participate successfully.

The accompanying rubric provides a framework for conversations with students before each field trip. It also gives staff helpful information when planning for individual student needs and creating a safe, positive, and meaningful experience for everyone.

We are sharing this guide with families so you are aware of the conversations taking place at school as we prepare students for upcoming field trips and other off-campus experiences. We encourage families to review and reinforce these expectations at home.
